Two-time Green Room Award nominated play, The Weather and Your Health, requires a Tour/Stage Manager for a national metropolitan and regional tour this March - May.

The Tour Manager is responsible for managing a national theatre tour across Australia, in the diverse role of Tour/Stage/Production Manager for The Weather and Your Health - a compact 50minute one-act play for two actors. The set consists of 5 chairs and a small suitcase of costumes and props. This role oversees bump-in and bump-out, stage management, lighting and sound operation, venue liaising, production reports, driving duties, schedule management and technical support.

Reports to: Producer and Tour Co-ordinator
Works closely with: Producer, Presenters, Technical Staff and Actors


Current Driver’s Licence
Senior First Aid Certificate
Working with Children Check
Out of hours work required


Manage rehearsal and performance calls
Liaise with venues prior to arrival on all production elements; scheduling, access, production elements and any other elements required by the Producer
Complete necessary company documentation such as rehearsal and performance reports, venue information for archives, or as required by the Producer
Set and strike equipment for rehearsals and performances, unpacking of vehicle required (minimal, and light weight)
Manage accommodation and travel times, if required by the Producer
Stage manage performances, maintain a prompt copy (archive copy already created)
Manage the booking of logistical aspects of staging, lighting and audio requirements for venues not covered by the Presenter
Ensure that communication/information is passed between the Tour Manager and Producer on a daily basis
Manage the driving of the company vehicle (provided), with rotating support from another member of the touring party
Oversee and/or support technical contractors, venue staff and carriers as required
Ensure that OH&S, and manual handling policies are adhered to
Liaise with venue staff regarding production requirements
Resolve technical issues that may arise regarding production requirements
Facilitate company requirements such as car parks, travel, accommodation, meals, valuables storage, notice board information as required


Working knowledge of touring and relevant production requirements
Demonstrated achievement in performing arts production, tour coordination, stage management and logistical coordination
Excellent interpersonal and communication skills
Willingness to receive direction
Ability to work within a varying roster of hours
Demonstrated high level of team work and time management skills
Demonstrated ability to work independently and within a team
Proven ability to meet and exceed minimum OH&S standards
Ability to communicate with a broad range of people within artistic and industrial environments
Methodical and positive approach to problem-solving
Working knowledge of lighting and audio equipment

Audition Times: 15 minute blocks 9am-12noon. Callbacks same day, 1pm-4pm. 

Following its recent selection for the 2012 VCE Drama Playlist, two-time Green Room Award nominated play, The Weather and Your Health, will be embarking on a national tour across regional and metropolitan Australia. This compact 50minute one-act play for two actors is performed with a minimal set consisting of 5 chairs, a small suitcase of costumes and props.

Inspired by true stories, The Weather and Your Health is a touching portrait of regional Australian life told through one woman’s reminiscences of war times, local dances, young love, family life and the joy of cooking.


Character Name: HE
Regional Australian male from the 1940’s - 1950’s. An almost silent character whose presence is felt rather than heard.
