Artist in Residence

— 25th March 2015 —

I'm Artist in Residence at Dubbo Christian School - my old stomping ground - until Easter. It's a privilege to work alongside former teachers as I pass on to students the things I have learned in my years of training and working as a theatre maker. A two part residency scheduled for March and May, this first visit constists of drama classes, workshops, a devised production...and this morning I performed character excerpts and the admin rap from Reception: The Musical at school assembly. Kindergarten loved it.

Visit the Contact page if you're interested in hosting a drama workshop. I love hearing from you!

We've got Butterflies!

— 12th March 2015 —

Smile High. We're back in our fab Melbourne venue this week for the first lot of VCE school shows. Students take notes, ask questions, devour the free lamingtons, go to town on the post-it notes, and it's a total pinch-fest to hear that students are reading the script in class.

It's a bit strange not to have groups of admin workers in the audience, but to be fair, the students respond in their own way. As we came down the stairs from the dressing room last night, a schoolboy stopped me and said, "Wow - I am, like, obsessed with you. Can we get a selfie?"

So, like, it's all going really well.

We've got three shows this week and will be back in Melbourne again for more shows in April and May.

2015 Tour - Ballarat

— 12th March 2015 —

Back to school. We had a tip-top time at Ballarat Clarendon College earlier this week. We performed in the lovely performing arts lecture theatre, in front of sets for their school production. This was the first in our series of VCE performances (Reception: The Musical is on the 2015 VCE Drama Playlist). We loved answering questions in the foyer after the show. Thanks to all those drama students who travelled from other schools in the region, and for the students of Ballarat Clarendon for giving up your performance space so close to opening night!

2015 Tour - Cororooke

— 9th March 2015 —

In the middle of some green dairy paddocks outside Colac stands Red Rock Regional Theatre and Gallery - an old church and hall that has been lovingly converted by an art-loving farmer into a stunning theatre and gallery space. Tonight was perfect. We had a full house of 'locals' from all over, a honky tonk piano from 1918, tables of decadent homemade slice, craft beer, hilarious conversations...and I got asked out on a post-it note.

2015 Tour - Mount Beauty

— 8th March 2015 —

You little beauty. Last night Peter christened the Community Centre's brand new upright piano (arranged just in time for our visit!) Such a warm, responsive crowd...and the wine and cheese afterwards made it an up-market - and jolly - office party.

2015 Tour - Camperdown

— 1st March 2015 —

Happy Campers. When admin workers in the front row hoot with laughter in a gorgeous old hall from 1890, it echoes. And it makes everyone else giggle! Such a lovely way to end the first leg of this independent 2015 regional tour of Reception: The Musical.
